Structure of an Essay Written

An essay is usually an essay that outlines the writer’s argument. However the meaning of an essay can be ambiguous and overlap with an essay, a report, a newspaper or even a novel. Essays have been traditionally divided into formal and non-formal. Formal essays are those where a thesis or main argument is made; like in an essay. The non-formal essay tends to be informal and may include personal opinions and descriptive statements as the primary arguments. Formal essays contain a clearly defined thesis which is usually presented after the essay is written. Essays that are not formal tend to be looser in terms of the opinion expressed.

When it comes to the use of literary devices using quotation marks and the use of various literary devices is a common feature in both literary and written journalism. The essay format and style will be determined by the topic and the argument that is being made. The information that needs to be provided for the essay topic has to be meticulously recorded, organized, and checked, and cited in a correct manner, as only then can the essay be considered to be an authentic one.

There are five types of essay writing which include analytical, topical argumentative and descriptive. The topical essay is a broad term that describes any essay written to discuss a current event or political issue. The type of essay utilizes general statements in order to address the issue in a broad point structure. These essays can be used to discuss subjects such as reviews, polls and surveys. Each requires careful observation and interpretation, and the inclusion and integration of specific information and statements that justify a certain view.

The narrative essay is the third type of structure for essays. It is similar to persuasive essays but is more focused on facts rather than opinions. The information in these types of essays will be correlated to the major points of the essay’s topic. When creating a narrative essay the focus should be on the facts instead of opinions or speculation.

The fourth kind of structure is called an essay that is a discussion. Contrary to the narrative style this format will deviate away from the typical topic sentence and go into an in-depth analysis of a specific topic or issue. The discussion format will have a thesis statement at every paragraph. This format is similar to the argumentative format. The conclusion paragraphs will address the thesis statement in a way which leaves the reader with a firm opinion. The conclusion paragraph is not as significant as the other paragraphs, and readers are able to decide for themselves.
